Frequently Asked Questions

Are you taking new clients?
I am accepting new clients.

How do you pronounce your name?
Latiolais is a Cajun French name, pronounced "Latch-o-lay."
What is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy?
CBT is a very well-researched approach to many problems, including anxiety and depression.  CBT helps by actively identifying negative self-talk and changing counter-productive behaviors.  I have found CBT to be a very effective way of helping people regain control over their feelings.

Psychiatrists are medical doctors who prescribe medication, while psychologists treat emotional issues with talk therapy. Dr. Latiolais is a psychologist who often works with patients who are on medication. She does not, however, prescribe medication.
How do I know if I will be able to establish a comfortable working relationship with you?

Any psychologist should be willing to speak with you by phone and answer any questions you have about their approach to therapy.  Usually, this will give you an impression of whether your personality styles will be a good fit.  I can be reached at (770) 205-1751, Monday through Thursday.

I am feeling suicidal.  Can you see me immediately?
Since I am an independent practitioner, I do not have the facility or resources to be available 24/7.  For those who need crisis care, I usually refer to local hospitals such as:

What are your fees?
Initial sessions are 75 minutes and the fee is $180.  Subsequent sessions (50 minutes) fees is $140.  All fees are due at the time of the session.
Do you accept credit cards?

I accept Mastercard, Visa, and American Express.  Of course, Personal Checks and Cash can also be used.

Do you accept insurance?
Because filing insurance for mental health issues now requires disclosure of sensitive, confidential information into electronic databases, I no longer provide this to insurance companies.  If you would like to file for reimbursement, I provide you a detailed invoice with the necessary codes for that purpose.
